5 reading skills kids need before grade 3

Third grade is a pivotal time in a child’s education, especially when it comes to reading. It’s when standardized testing begins and students are expected to be fluent readers, ready to read different types of fiction and nonfiction, learn how to identify characters in a story, and more.
