This research report titled, āFamily engagement as a long-term strategy for continued COVID recovery,ā was co-authored by Dr. Ayesha Hashim from NWEA and Drs. Rebecca Johnson, from Georgetown Universityās McCourt School of Public Policy, and Rachel Perera from the Brookings Institution. It examines several key areas focused on family engagement as an often-underutilized strategy in helping to support student academic growth. The report provides a broader definition of family engagement, shares insights from recent surveys on family engagement and family experiences with schools, identifies barriers to engagement and how improved communication strategies can drive more involvement and partnerships with families.
