How high school educators
use MAP data to meet their
kids’ evolving needs

Incoming high school freshmen and rising sophomores usually find themselves at a crossroads. These students rapidly become aware of how their academics will shape their future path after graduation. Socially and emotionally, they have entered a new phase of growth.

“I’m seeing them coming in from their freshman year,” says Midlothian High School English teacher Bethany Dowd. “At that point, I would say the majority of students aren’t really taking their academics as seriously at that point as they will be by the end of their sophomore year.”
