A “fierce commitment” to what’s best for students

Educators in Texas’s Laredo Independent School District have been sending well-prepared young adults out into the world for over 140 years. They’ve also been celebrated for their commitment to academic excellence—11 of Laredo’s 33 schools are nationally recognized blue-ribbon schools, and three more have already been identified in 2025. Yet the district faced a tough challenge: time‑consuming one‑to‑one assessments took precious instructional time from teachers and left them struggling to deliver consistent, targeted support, especially for the 57% of Laredo’s students identified as emergent bilinguals / English language learners (ELLs).
