Predicting Performance on the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments based on NWEA MAP Growth Scores

To predict student achievement on the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC)
summative assessments in Grades 3–8 in English Language Arts/Literacy (ELA) and Mathematics,
NWEA® conducted a linking study using Spring 2019 data to derive Rasch Unit (RIT) cut scores on the MAP® Growth™ assessments that correspond to the SBAC achievement levels. Educators can use this valuable information to see where students are now, develop growth goals for the coming year, and create instructional strategies to meet them. This linking study has been updated since the previous version published in July 2017 to incorporate the new 2020 NWEA MAP Growth norms.
