Building a data playbook

Action plans and protocols that drive change

Jodi Lemoine, Director of Accountability, West Feliciana Parish Schools, LA

West Feliciana Parish Schools didn’t just analyze the data—they built a system around it, becoming Louisiana’s top-performing school system for two consecutive years while helping 79% of their K–3 students to read on or above grade level. Jodi will show you how a districtwide MAP Growth playbook—complete with aligned leadership teams, structured PLC cycles, and high-dosage tutoring protocols—can turn assessment into sustained, measurable student growth for you, too.

The impact of knowing your data

Jessica DeLisa, Math Teacher, Cedar Drive Middle School, NJ

Things really changed at Cedar Drive when students began tracking their MAP Growth data through Jessica’s new “student data portfolios”—constantly evolving student-owned records of assessments, growth, goals, and reflections. The portfolios sparked a cultural change, where students were engaged and wanted to improve their performance. Jessica will explore how intentionally sharing assessment data with students drives growth and accountability, builds confidence, and leads to measurable gains in performance.

Changing the question

How growth-focused data conversations transform schools

Amanda Zingone, Associate Superintendent of Academics, Archdiocese of New Orleans, LA

It’s one thing to have great assessment data and quite another to create the conditions where it really changes practice. Over four years, the K–12 Archdiocese of New Orleans moved beyond compliance‑driven data meetings to a sustainable, growth‑centered culture—one where teachers lead data conversations, leaders are equipped to provide systemic support, and the entire system is aligned around student growth. Amanda will walk you through the replicable process behind their transformation and demonstrate how to create the conditions where data changes practice.

From numbers to narrative

Letting data tell the story

Carrie Feitl, Elementary Instructional Coach, Christian Academy School System, KY

Every district has a story, and Christian Academy School System has a great one: Over a six-year period, they substantially increased the number of students hitting the district-defined benchmark for good-to-great growth. Carrie, who is passionate about helping others understand the story that data tells, will show you how to analyze strengths, address curriculum gaps, and take strategic action.

From insight to impact

Dr. Dawn Rodriguez, Chief of Accountability, Assessment, and Analytics, Aldine ISD, TX

Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney, Superintendent, Aldine ISD, TX

Through aligned collaboration, targeted professional learning, and consistent data cycles, the district built a culture where data drives instruction—resulting in increased student growth and stronger Tier II and III outcomes. Join Dawn and LaTonya to explore practical, scalable strategies for implementing MAP Growth with fidelity, fostering a data-informed culture, and translating assessment results into effective instructional practices.

About Jacob Bruno

Jacob Bruno was a vital member of the NWEA community before his passing in 2025. As Senior Vice President of Professional Learning, he helped ensure that our guidance to educators was driven by evidence-based practices, our shared passion for student growth, and a focus on practical application in classrooms and schools. As a practitioner, as a leader, and as a parent, Jacob was dedicated to making a real-world difference for children and how they learn.

Jacob understood that meaningful change starts with our ability to be real and vulnerable with one another and showed us that even in the smallest of interactions, growth came from living with an open heart. The Changemaker Speaker Series is our opportunity to honor his contributions and carry forward his commitment to students, community, and family.
