Field Research Program
The MAP® Reading Fluency™ Field Research program is an opportunity for MAP Reading Fluency partners to receive NWEA Professional Learning credit or Fluency pilots for their district/school in return for participating in the research program to gather data to calibrate and enhance the product.
2024/2025 Program Details
We are currently recruiting partners for our field research efforts for the 2024/25 school year. The English field research is focused on development of new skill-diagnostic, non-benchmark tests within the construct of phonics and word recognition. The new tests will extend the relevance of MAP Reading Fluency to more advanced phonics, including multisyllabic word decoding strategies. While the Spanish field research is focused on suprasegmental phonology, or “stress awareness.” Just as it is in English, stress awareness is key to being able to read both aloud and silently with fluency in Spanish.
What we ask …
As a participant in the MAP Reading Fluency field research program, NWEA is asking partners for the following commitments:
- Participating partners will be asked to have students take a special research test form, similar to a regular MAP Reading Fluency test, but in addition to benchmark tests.
- Partners must submit a signed participation agreement to their NWEA Representative prior to testing.
What you receive in return …
- Raw scores are provided for each available measure.
- Professional Learning Credits are distributed based on number of tests taken each term (see below for break down).
- MAP Reading Fluency pilot opportunities for potential new partners (see your NWEA representatives for more information).
