Teresa Krastel is the Spanish solutions lead at NWEA, and her team is responsible for the content development of Spanish MAP Growth and Spanish MAP Reading Fluency. She holds a PhD in Hispanic linguistics and literatures from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her research interests include curriculum and instruction, second language acquisition, bilingualism, and dialectology. She is a former teacher of Spanish in grades K–12 and at the undergraduate level, and she has taught English as a second language to adult learners. She has also taught Hispanic linguistics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. She speaks English, Spanish, German, and a touch of Tagalog.
