Carlotta Pope

Carlotta Pope is an educator, lifelong learner, and agent of change. She teaches eleventh-grade English at Brooklyn Community Arts and Media High School. As a native Brooklynite, she is no stranger to the mantra “Brooklyn we go hard!” She is currently pursuing her doctorate at St. John’s University, where she is focusing on developing skills to continue empowering students’ authentic learning experiences and also finding ways to combat systemic oppression within the education system. She strives to uplift her students through the practice of culturally responsive pedagogy and uses the identities and passions of her students to enhance literacy and lifelong skills.
