Prepare Your Local Testing Environment
How to create the Network Test Environment (NTE) folder
If you are using MAP tests for the first time in one or more of your locations, or are installing the MAP training environment, you must create a data folder called a Network Test Environment (NTE), at each new site.
This folder must be shared on your network. All testing workstations will require both "read" and "write" network permissions to this folder.
We recommend that each school has its own NTE.
Please note: it is important to begin each testing term with a new, empty NTE folder. Re-using folders from previous seasons can lead to inaccurate results.
How to download testing data
To download school/district data, student data and test packages, follow these steps:
- Launch and log in to NTE Admin 2.
- In the row corresponding to the school for which you are downloading data, click the column labeled "[Click to define folder location]".
- Type in the folder path to your testing folder and click the Save icon, or click the blue folder icon and browse to the folder path location.
- Repeat this process for each school for which you are downloading data. When creating school-level folders, each school should have a unique path with its own separate folder.
- Check the box(es) to the left of the school(s) for which you are downloading data.
- Check the box(es) under the "Bulk Download / Upload Action" area corresponding to the types of data you want to download.
- Please note: A complete NTE folder requires school, test, and student data. If your district is giving the MAP for Primary Grades tests, a separate download of the required audio files will also be necessary.
- Click the "Start" button to begin downloading.
Please note: student and school/district data cannot be downloaded until you receive notification that your Class Roster File has been enrolled in the NWEA database, but you can download test packages while you wait for your CRF to be processed.
How to assign specific tests to specific schools
Test packages can take a long time to download, but you can minimize test download time by only downloading tests that are applicable for students at each school. For example, at your middle and high schools, download the 6+ math test but not the 2–5 math test.
Follow these steps to assign specific tests to specific schools:
- Check the boxes to the left of the names of the schools for which you want to change the test package assignments. Please note: You must define a folder location for the schools you are changing test packages for before making any changes.
- Click "Assign Tests."
- Click the checkboxes to the left of the test package names for each test you want to assign to all specified schools. To assign a test to some, but not all, schools, check the box in the test package row in a school's column. To un-assign a test from a school, click a checked box to uncheck it.
- After you have made all of the desired test package assignment changes, click "Assign" to finalize the changes.
