The Standardized Test Evolution Must Center Both the Classroom and the System

We’ve been following the disruption of standardized testing for a while now, especially with departures at the state level and among education professionals in the wake of the pandemic. From California to Florida, the debate persists around whether today’s standardized tests can meet demands for more personalized, individualized and adaptive education per student.

To keep the conversation flowing, we pulled perspectives from Abby Javurek, Vice President of Future Impact and Growth at NWEA, to address how testing strategies can be retooled for both classroom impact and systemic measures as standardized tests work to both reflect students’ individual growth, as well as district-wide metrics.
