Clark County School District Superintendent Dr. Jesus Jara is visiting local schools Wednesday in an effort to learn more about a new CCSD partnership, expected to be focused on improving student test scores.

This year, district officials are pairing up our local classrooms with researched-based student-teacher assessor, NWEA. The goal with this partnership, Dr. Jara says, is to increase student achievement and decrease proficiency gaps. The program is expected to be pinpoint where students currently line up with the standardized curriculum, while also reportedly finding areas where they can improve.

The CCSD reports 90 schools are using the program, titled "Measures of Academic Progress," or MAP, to track each student’s dips and progresses over time.

“This is a tool for our classroom teachers. It’s not going to replace the teachers,” said Dr. Jara. “Not everybody in that class is in the same spot so I think this is now going to be the individualized support that our kids need.”

Families are also expected to be involved as well, with the CCSD saying parents will received the program’s information. This will reportedly allow families to have a guideline of how to help their student test better while home.
