The Assessment Landscape
Assessments are at the forefront of the national dialogue on education. State and federal initiatives are having a major impact on local educators. In this session, we’ll provide a pulse check on national assessment trends and how they are affecting Ohio schools.
The Purpose-Driven Assessment Program: How to regain control of your assessment program, reduce over-testing, and drive student learning
Is your assessment program supporting student learning in a meaningful way? Most school systems have politically-driven compliance testing systems, in which opportunities to use assessment to inform instruction and nurture teacher development are often lost. Purpose-driven assessment programs, in contrast, are designed to support educators and students in a meaningful way. They define their own local goals for assessment, emphasize using assessment for improvement, eliminate duplicative or useless tests, and provide data that can make a difference in the classroom. In this session, you’ll learn the principles you need to transform your existing assessment system into one that is truly purpose-driven.
Panel Discussion: A Progression of Excellence
District leaders from Columbus City Schools, Akron Public Schools, Sycamore Community Schools, and Worthington City Schools share how they are building cultures of achievement, with the help of MAP data, at different stages of partnership with NWEA.
Limit two registrants per district. Lunch will be provided.
