How will I know what kind of progress they\u2019re making?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As a school principal, how can I ensure that the students in my school are tracking toward key milestones? How can I offer the best professional development to support teachers?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As a district administrator, how can I evaluate our district\u2019s programs for improvement planning? What\u2019s working best, and what should we stop doing?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As a family member, how do I know my child is receiving instruction that will extend their current knowledge and skills?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As a student, how does my learning connect with my goals?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to do with assessment data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you know your purpose, you\u2019re ready to assess.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nwea.org\/the-map-suite\/\">Assessments that deliver data that can be used in real time<\/a>&nbsp;to make a difference in education provide priceless opportunities for teachers and school leaders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some examples of what educators can do with actionable assessment information:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>1. Differentiate instruction by student readiness<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sound interim assessment data lets teachers know exactly where each student is compared to their classmates and peers nationwide. It allows a teacher to meet students within their&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nwea.org\/blog\/2020\/the-zone-of-proximal-development-zpd-the-power-of-just-right\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">zone of proximal development (ZPD)<\/a>, the optimal spot where instruction is most beneficial for each student and just beyond their current level of independent capability.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MAP Growth uses a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nwea.org\/normative-data-rit-scores\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">grade-independent RIT score<\/a>&nbsp;that measures academic growth much like a yardstick might measure physical growth. Starting from this score, teachers can begin providing tailored instruction to meet student needs.
