We have had a great couple of weeks here at NWEA, between launching our new assessment tool, Skills Navigator, at the ISTE conference at the end of June, and then seeing all of you at Fusion in Chicago. Your enthusiasm, ideas, and passion for making great things possible for students never fail to inspire us.
ISTE was made extra special for us because Skills Navigator was selected by Tech & Learning magazine as “Best in Show” in its category. We could not be more proud of this recognition.
Here’s how the process worked:
A panel of expert judges that included some of the most tech-savvy educators in the country reviewed the most innovative products at the conference to select the Best in Show winners. Each product was rated separately to evaluate characteristics such as overall quality, effectiveness, ease of use and creative use of technology. The judges then convened to determine which products are likely to have the greatest impact as game-changers in the classroom – and they selected Skills Navigator.
We’ve written, already, about the skills framework that undergirds the system. We also saw a great response to the modular flexibility of the system that allows teachers to use the tool as they need to – to identify areas that need work, probe for mastery, or assign instructional resources (through our partnership with Knovation). It’s designed to be easy to use and deliver quick insight to guide instruction in meaningful ways.
