Berea City Schools Targets Interventions Using Data

Precision Interventions Increase Student Growth
Berea City Schools in Berea, Ohio, faced an issue familiar to most schools. Standardized test results identified which kids were at risk, but without pinpointing the specific learning issue.

To get ahead of this, the district implemented NWEA MAP assessments and used the data to transform how it intervened. Instead of scattering efforts across the whole class, Berea interpreted the data and delivered truly personalized instruction, helping each child in areas that needed support. The district also tapped into the rich classroom resources available through Descartes: A Learning Continuum, and Lexile-aligned readings to further support its kids.

"We wanted the most diagnostic and productive assessment out there, one that bends to the kids and doesn't waste anybody's time. NWEA fit that need by understanding kids and providing recommendations for how to help them."
-Matt Deever, Director of Instruction, Berea City Schools
