Professional Development
NWEA staff development courses help educators build proficiency in understanding and applying test data.
Educating our nation's children is not a solitary endeavor. It requires the constant dedication of many people.
Our professional development workshops create an opportunity to collaborate with others who share the passion and vision for educating our children. Through our professional development courses, we:
- Collaborate with others, actively listening and drawing inspiration.
- Share expertise, passion, and resources.
- Support leadership efforts within districts working to improve education.
- “NWEA is a vibrant learning organization that is always striving to improve and help district personnel become more capable and knowledgeable.”
- John Wilson, Assessment and Evaluation Coordinator

Training Continuum Courses
Throughout a partnership with NWEA, members can engage in professional development that builds capacity within their districts to become expert users of assessment data. Regardless of previous experience using assessment data, NWEA provides an opportunity to take learning to the next level.
Our training continuum steps members through a series of workshops, advancing understanding and proficiency with assessment information.

NWEA understands that a school's first priority is educating students, and time for professional development is limited. That's why we have created different opportunities to share understanding.
- Online courses
- provide foundational information in self-paced sessions that fit easily into busy schedules.
- Regional workshops
- present a cost-effective way to collaborate with educators from your region. Districts typically send several representative staff members who are supported with resources and materials to take back and share with their entire districts.
- On-site workshops
- are an opportunity to bring staff from throughout the district together to explore their own data. We create each on-site workshop with the flexibility to meet the unique needs of a district.
Member Conferences
In addition, NWEA members share their talent, expertise, creativity, and dedication to improve student learning at member conferences. Regional member conferences are held throughout the year. Annually, NWEA hosts a national Members' Seminar in Portland, Oregon.
