District Reports
NWEA district reports inform resource planning and school improvement plans.
Overview
District reports provide the ability to assess performance trends by grade. The reports present longitudinal data for a particular school and are valuable resources in planning and monitoring school improvement plans.
Strengths and areas of concern are highlighted for immediate recognition. These reports can be disaggregated by ethnicity, gender, grade, and special populations.
Features
NWEA district reports provide:
- The ability to identify patterns and trends quickly and easily.
- Longitudinal data that enable effective decision making at the district level.
- Tools that guide refined instructional planning with information at grade, teacher, and individual student levels.
- Guidance when planning for professional and staff development.
- An accurate measure of group performance.
Areas of need across the district are apparent on the district landing page.
Practical Application
After a district has completed testing, educators can access a suite of reports within 72 hours. Whether searching for a high-level view of a school or targeted information on a single student's performance, teachers and administrators can access the information in one of many available reports.
In addition, districts receive a raw text file of test results that they can import into a data management system or spreadsheet to facilitate disaggregation of data.
Central Office Administrators:
- Use NWEA reports to disaggregate test data from the district level to the individual student.
- Use growth data to evaluate the effectiveness of school programs and policies.
- Compare and analyze district, school, and individual student growth targets.
- Identify district or school level patterns and trends and quickly “drill down” through groups to pinpoint student data.
- Present or print customized reports and graphs as needed.
- Use growth data to facilitate communication with parents, school board members, and the local community.
FAQ
- How soon after uploading tests can reports be viewed?
- District level reports are available within 72 hours following a successful upload of test results.
- Are annotated reports available to view?
- Yes. To view sample reports, go to the NWEA Reports Site, and scroll to the bottom of the page. There are several annotated reports that can be viewed from here.
- Which reports can be accessed from a Macintosh computer?
- Teacher reports may be viewed through any Internet browser because they are Adobe Reader files (.pdf) and these types of files are accessible from a Macintosh.
- What is a Lexile?
- The Lexile Framework for Reading is based on the Lexile scale, which ranks books and reading abilities. Texts are evaluated for difficulty based on two parameters: word complexity and frequency, and sentence length.
- What is a RIT range?
- The RIT range reflects the rounded range of scores that is one standard error of measure around the student's score. It can be expected that if the students took the test again soon, under similar conditions and applying the same effort, the student's score would fall within this range about 2/3 of the time.
- What is a standard measure of error?
- The standard error of measurement is an estimate of the precision of the achievement (RIT) score. The smaller the standard error, the more precise the achievement estimate is.
- What is a percentile rank?
- This number indicates the percentage of students in the NWEA norm group for this grade that this student's score equaled or exceeded.
