The District Leadership Team

The District Leadership Team is a select group of leaders from within your district. This team is integral to ensuring the participation and support of all district staff during implementation, staff development, and the use of assessment data.

Please note
While NWEA assessments are primarily used in public school districts, we do partner with other organizations that don’t fit the standard school district model.
Please consider these guidelines flexibly, as needed, to fit the specific circumstances of your partnership with NWEA.

Purpose of the District Leadership Team

  • Provide effective leadership and support for implementation and use of NWEA assessments and data.
  • Develop expectations for staff to use data in order to develop a culture that fosters learning for all students.

Expectations of the District Leadership Team

  • Attend professional development trainings.
  • Work to build internal capacity and expertise within each school.
  • Assist teachers in connecting data to instruction.
  • Lead the district in the use and understanding of data.
  • Access, share, and use NWEA resources.
  • Stay current with changes and new information from NWEA.
  • Connect NWEA leadership strategies with school improvement plans.

Suggested Makeup

  • At least one leader from each school.
  • Central office administrator(s) responsible for making decisions related to  professional staff development.
  • Staff responsible for curriculum and instructional leadership.
  • Teacher leaders who embody vision and sound classroom instructional strategies.
  • Other key district people such as instructional coaches, counselors, curriculum specialists, and staff developers.

How NWEA Supports the District Leadership Team

  • Professional Development – NWEA provides online facilitator-led recorded training sessions designed specifically for the District Leadership Team.
  • Ongoing support – Members of the NWEA Client Services team are available via phone and email to support the District Leadership Team.
  • Newsletter – District Leadership Team members receive The Monthly Measure, NWEA's email newsletter.
  • Web site – The NWEA web site is a rich source of up-to-date information, resources, and tools.
