How are MAP for Primary Grades test Items different from standard MAP test items?

MAP for Primary Grades assessments are unique in that they are made up of a combination of multiple choice (as in other MAP assessments) and enhanced items. There are three types of enhanced items:

  • Sticky Click. This type of item requires two mouse clicks to reposition an object on the screen. The first click will select the object from its initial position, and the second click will reposition the object to a new spot. In essence, the first click “sticks” the object to the cursor and it remains stuck until the second click releases the object.
  • Click-and-Pop. This type of item allows the student to "pop" an item into the correct position just by clicking on it.
  • Hot Spots. This item type is used when there are multiple objects from which to choose and allows the student to clearly see which objects have been selected. When the object is clicked, it appears highlighted when compared to the remaining objects, or a circle is drawn around the object.
