How to import the Data Text File and view RIT ranges in Microsoft Excel

Use the following steps to import your testing data from the .txt file that is included in the reports package into Microsoft Excel and then add a column to displays RIT ranges:

  1. After you retrieve your reports and extract them, locate the .txt file that is included with your reports and move it to a folder you can easily access from Microsoft Excel.
  2. Start Microsoft Excel.
  3. From the File menu, select Open.
  4. In the Files of type list, select Text files.
  5. Select the text file that you extracted or moved in step 1. and then click Open.
  6. In the Text Import Wizard window, select Delimited and then click Next.
  7. In the Text Import Wizard window, in the Delimiters area, select Tab.
  8. Click Next and then click Finish.
  9. Insert RIT ranges in the file as follows:
  • Select column L, right-click and then select Insert. This creates a blank
    column.
  • In cell L1, type RIT Range.
  • In cell L2, type the following formula:
    =CONCATENATE((ROUND((J2-K2),0)),"-",(ROUND((J2+K2),0)))
  • Copy this formula to all the cells in column L. (Excel should automatically update the cell numbers in the formula so that the formula refers to the correct row.)
