Error Message: "Unable to open or access control file"
If you receive this error message when trying to open your Crystal Reports, one of the following three solutions may resolve your issue:
1. The file has not been extracted and you are opening the report from inside the zipped Reports package that you downloaded. If that is the case, extract the files from the .zip file to a folder on the local computer, and then open the report.
2. The directory path to the file exceeds 126 characters. Crystal Reports Viewer does not display the report if the directory path name is longer than 126 characters. The more folders you open to find the report, the longer it makes the directory path. To resolve this, move the reports up one folder, until the entire path for the longest named file is less than 126 characters.
3. Permissions are not set correctly across the network. Contact a network administrator in your district that can assist you with permissions.
