Some users who add students in the MAP Test Administration Application (MAP TAA) are not able to add them to the Network Test Environment (NTE) because their local network login does not have permissions to write to the registry or to the NTE itself. Work with your district’s Technical Coordinator to ensure you have the proper permissions; MAP TAA users must have administrative rights to their local computer.
Sometimes there is a discrepancy between what you see in MAP TAA and what you see in MAP TestTaker. This is because MAP TAA looks at the NWEA database, while MAP TestTaker looks at your local database. If you add a student through MAP TAA, and that student does not show up in MAP TestTaker, do not add that student through MAP TAA again. Instead, escalate the issue to your district’s Technical Coordinator or MAP Coordinator so that he or she can investigate why your local database is not connecting with the NWEA database. If the student is found in the NWEA database you will be prompted to add the student to your local NTE rather than adding and duplicating the student. Please confirm that the student found is correct and add the student to the NTE.
After adding a new student record, you will be prompted to save the student to the NTE. Because MAP TestTaker is looking at the NTE for its data, you will not be able to test this student if the record is not successfully saved to the NTE.The first time a student record is saved to the NTE on a particular computer, the user has to browse to the location of the NTE. Do not select the Student folder – select the root name of the NTE. Talk to your district’s Technical Coordinator if you do not know the location of the NTE on your network.
The NTE is not updated during the Modify Student function; it is only updated during the Add Student and Move Student functions. If you can see a student record in MAP TAA, but you cannot see that student in MAP TestTaker, try one of these options to get a single student’s data into the NTE:
- Use the Locate Student function to move the student to and from the same school. This forces a download of just one student’s data.
- Re-download student data in MAP TAA. You cannot re-download while tests are being administered because you must have exclusive access to the NTE to download student data.
