Mastery
Mastery learning is predominantly a group-based, teacher-paced instructional approach based on well-defined learning objectives organized into smaller, sequentially organized units. Teachers evaluate students with criterion-referenced tests rather than norm-referenced tests. Typical mastery tests present every student with the same test usually created for a specific skill, content, or grade level to demonstrate proficiency. Mastery learning also provides frequent and specific feedback loops based on discrete units of well-defined, appropriately sequenced outcomes.
