What is the difference between the Comprehensive Data File and the Data Text File?
The Comprehensive Data File is similar to the existing Data Text File—i.e., it includes raw, unformatted MAP data—although it also includes additional fields, including: district name; student first name; student middle name; student last name; student date of birth; test start date; test duration; Discipline (measurement scale grouping); NWEA norm-based, typical student growth; goal 8 (for Spanish math); class name; teacher name; and special program name.
The Data Text File is included as part of Ordered Reports packages; the Comprehensive Data File may be ordered individually at any point for any testing season for which there is data available.
In general, one way to think of the difference between the two is that the Data Text File provides a building-level view of student data, while the Comprehensive Data File provides a student class-level perspective.
Both may be used to import and integrate MAP results with many student information systems.
