How do State Mastery tests and Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) work together?

Alignment Studies are required to make a valid correlation between MAP and State Mastery tests. NWEA’s intention is to conduct an alignment study in each state once state results are released (conditioned on participation by enough members to generate 1,500 students per grade in each state). A number of these correlation studies have been completed and are available in the State Information section of NWEA’s website. These alignment studies have proven to be useful for teachers and building administrators in helping to identify students for remediation prior to taking the state-mandated test.
