Unique Methodology
We have partnered with Profound Learning Systems, Inc. to offer the NWEA Knowledge Academy. Profound Learning Systems is an educator-led organization that has developed an effective method of sharing information for learning.
In typical learning strategies, retention rates are about 10%. With Profound Learning System's solution, review and repetition of key concepts creates retention rates that climb to more than 90%. This higher retention translates into a higher likelihood that the information learned will be applied.
Courses include:- MAP Basics
- This course is designed to give participants an overview of the basics the MAP system in order to develop a grounding in NWEA assessments.
- What Every Teacher Needs to Know about MAP
- This course is designed for teachers. It provides an overview of how MAP data relates to the classroom. It will prompt teachers to begin to think about how the data from the MAP assessment can be used to inform their instruction.
- Reports Basics for the Teacher
- This course is designed for teachers. It includes how to access the NWEA Reports Site and the different types of reports available online. The course allows teachers to become self-sufficient in obtaining and utilizing the data on their MAP reports.
- Getting the Most from the Teacher Report
- This course is designed to give educators a basic understanding of how to access, read, and interpret an NWEA Teacher Report. It shows how to create a class breakdown sheet that can be used as a springboard for looking at the academic diversity of a class.
- Making the Most of MAP Science
- The purpose of this course is to give participants a basic understanding of NWEA’s Science assessments. It also includes information on how to interpret the results of these assessments as well as the resources available for educators.
- Tools and Resources for Teachers
- This course is designed to give participants a basic understanding of various data analysis tools and resource available on the NWEA web site and Reports Site. Through this course, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the appropriate tools to use for certain needs and become more comfortable with their use.
- MAP for All Seasons
- This entry-level course is intended to compliment the MAP Administration Training by focusing on logistical information for MAP team members in preparation for testing. This course is designed to assist training new staff members added since your MAP Administration Training and as a refresher to support you in your ongoing work.
- Goal Setting: Classroom and Individual Student
- This course is designed to guide a teacher through the steps in goal setting at the classroom and individual student level based on NWEA data. It will also give information and suggestions on communicating with students and parents about the goal being set.
- DesCartes: A Continuum of Learning
- This course is designed to give participants a basic understanding of DesCartes; a classroom resource that teachers can use to translate NWEA test scores into learning objectives targeted to individual student needs.
